The SIT, which is investigating Punjab police in Umranangal’s Kotkapura shootout case, has filed the first charge sheet. These include former Akali MLA Mantar Brar, IPS P.S.Umranangal, former SSP Charanjit Sharma, then SHO Kotkapura Gurdeep Singh, DSP Baljit Singh, and ADCP Ludhiana Paramjit Singh Jeet. In the charge sheet, the SIT narrated the entire story of the Kotkapura shootout.

Former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal summoned by SIT in 2015 police firing case
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has constituted an SIT in connection with the police firing in Kotkapura in 2015 after the sacrilege incident. Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has been summoned for questioning in the same case.
Police have summoned former Punjab Chief Minister and Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal in connection with the Kotkapura firing case. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has constituted an SIT in connection with the firing by the police in Kotkapura in 2015 after the sacrilege incident. The SIT led by ADGP LK Yadav has summoned former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for questioning to get to the bottom of the matter.
According to the information so far, Parkash Singh Badal, the former Chief Minister of Punjab and Patron of Akali Dal, has been summoned in front of the SIT at PSPCL Guest House located in Phase-8, Mohali at 10.30 am on June 16.
As per the orders of the court, the team has been ordered to complete the investigation of the Kotkapura firing incident in six months on a priority basis. Along with this, it has been said that the SIT will work jointly and all its members will sign all the proceedings of the investigation and the final report.
The members of the SIT have been instructed not to leak any part of the investigation and not to interact with the media regarding various aspects of the investigation. Further, the members of the SIT shall not directly or indirectly respond to any doubt or opinion expressed by anyone regarding the ongoing investigation.

The police file also cleared that there were other police officials at the scene, along with IGP Umranangal who was commanding the police team. In fact, some of the protesters mentioned the names of police officials who pressured them to lift off the dharna including — Amar Singh Chahal (DIG), Sukhminder Singh (SSP), Ranbir Khatra (DIG), with other police officials.
At this stage, it is hard to believe in the facts produced by an investigation team that is not on the same page amongst themselves.
